Siggraph 2013 – Featuring Electronic and Digital Art July 21-25

SIGGRAPH 2013 brings together thousands of computer graphics professionals, 21-25 July 2013, Anaheim, California, USA. Launched today (July 21) at the Anaheim Convention Center in California. This event will offer the latest technologies and brightest minds an opportunity to get together and to learn, experiment, and create. They will have the opportunity to explore the Studio and to test a wide range of cutting edge techniques using 3D printing, modeling, and animation software.

SIGGRAPH 2013 Studio Chair…

Patricia Clark describes the event as, “a playground. It’s more than just seeing the new technology and what it can produce, but attendees have the chance to see how experienced professionals are making the technology work for them in real life.”

A glimpse into what is happening at Siggraph 2013…

Siggraph 2013 attendees can peek behind-the-scenes at artwork and concepts as well as have the opportunity to discuss the technologies with the presenters.

Playing Audrey II: Creating a Digital Actor With Game Technology

Faculty and students used digital game technology, motion capture with facial animation in creating a fully realized digital actor, the man-eating plant Audrey II from the musical “Little Shop of Horrors” (November 2012).
The Bleeding Edge of 3D Printing and Digital Fabrication

An overview of new developments in 3D printing and digital fabrication. Attendees view short video clips of a variety of different systems.

Studio Workshops
Attendees participate in a series of in-depth workshops, presented by the best in the industry.

Make Mobile Apps Easily and Fast

Attendees see how to build mobile apps quickly and easily, using a variety of free open-source tools.

FaceGen: 3D Scanning and Fine Tooning

With the use of high-resolution video capture and software from FaceGen and Autodesk MotionBuilder, among others, Ketrina Yim creates 3D characters from attendees faces and animates them in real time with live expressions by building a facial rig inside MotionBuilder.

3D Data Capture

A hands-on demonstration of a variety of 3D data capture devices in Studio 3D.
