Rice and Matchsticks
Following on from the theme of looking at studios in other parts of the world
What’s going on in Argentina?
This post is sparked by an article on http://variety.com by Emiliano De Pablos.
He writes, “Pushing the boundaries of Latin American animation, Argentina’s helmer-writer-producer Javier Beltramino is advancing on “Rice & Matchsticks,” a pioneering 3D animated short”. You can read De Pablos’ post here: http://variety.com/2014/film/spotlight/beltramino-drives-pioneering-latin-american-3d-title-rice-1201219813/.
Below is a short teaser video of “Rice And Matchsticks”
The sound track is pretty inspired, so I include the link to the making of the music. In Spanish with English subtitles. http://youtu.be/fVQ_HzJrWe4. Original music by Andres Goldstein and Daniel Tarrab.
Rice & Matchsticks (Arroz y fosforus) was produced by writer-producer Javier Beltramino of Argentina’s Matchsticks Animation Studios. The short is to be released in January 2015.

Beltramino is Chief of Film Production at Telefónica Studios in Argentina and was the Associate Producer of Underdogs (Metegol) a film by Juan Jose Campanella, which won the Goya Award for Best Animated Film. Rice and Matchsticks is his first 3D short.
Telefónica Studios is the worldwide film production and distribution operation of the Spanish telephone company Telefónica, which has co-produced 25 films in Argentina, where its production arm is Telefe, and Spain. If you read Spanish and want to know more about Cine on the Telefe website go here: http://telefe.com/cine/.
Going to the matchsticks animation studio website only gives you this image. So I suppose we should be watching that space! I am sure something will be happening there sometime soon!

Finally, in France …
The Annecy International Film Festival (http://www.annecy.org/home), which focuses on animated films, was created in 1960 and takes place at the beginning of June in the town of Annecy in France. This year it was held from the 9th to the 14th of June.
Clicking on the Film Festival website I found an ad from the association of audiovisual professionals, MediaClub, which set up the Daniel Sabatier Prize to support the development of projects and to help young people in the industry get a jump start on their career.
Daniel Sabatier Prize
So, if you speak, write and understand French click here for more information about the Daniel Sabatier Prize http://www.mediaclub.fr/pds.
